An app for effective Arabic training
Arabic course online: from the alphabet to real sentences
This Arabic course starts where most learners stall: the script, the sounds and the first real sentences. Every card has native-speed audio, and the path runs from your first letter to C2.

Arabic makes you learn three things at once. A new alphabet written right to left, where letters change shape inside a word. Sounds that English does not have. And a grammar built on roots and patterns. Most courses hand you a letter chart and a word list, and the words refuse to stick because you cannot hear them in your head.
The way through is whole sentences you have heard many times, in the script, with audio, coming back right before you forget them. That is what this Arabic course drills, from the first unit to the last.
How it works
Audio on every card
Every sentence is read aloud, so you learn to hear Arabic sounds and connect them to the script from the first day.
Spaced repetition
Reviews return right before you would forget. Letters, words and patterns become reflex instead of a lookup.
Create with AI
Add the Arabic you personally need: travel, work, family, your studies. The AI builds sentences, context and audio around your own words.
Handwriting practice (coming soon)
We are testing an exercise that checks the Arabic letters you draw by hand, in all four positional forms. Read how we built it.
Who is it for
- You want to learn Arabic from zero and need a path that starts with the script, not with a word list.
- You learned the letters, then stalled, because words would not stick without sound.
- You are learning Modern Standard Arabic for study, work, travel or religion and want material that goes past tourist phrases.
- You keep finding Arabic for beginners and nothing that carries you to an advanced level.
Method & curriculum
The course runs on the Core collections: six units, Core #1 to #6, from absolute beginner to C2 along one continuous path, about 2,000 sentence cards per unit.
The rhythm is word to phrase to sentence. A new word returns inside a phrase, then inside full sentences, questions and negations, until it holds. Each unit builds on the one before it.
The language taught is Modern Standard Arabic (fuṣḥā), the Arabic of books, news and formal speech, understood across the Arab world. Spoken dialects such as Egyptian or Levantine are different varieties and are not the focus of this course.

As a polyglot I tested all the other tools like Anki, Quizlet, and Memrise. But Taalhammer is in a league of its own. — Martin
Frequently asked questions
Is this Arabic course for absolute beginners?
Yes. Core #1 starts from zero and assumes nothing, and every card carries audio so you hear each sentence from the start.
Do I have to learn the Arabic alphabet first?
You learn the Arabic alphabet as you go. Sentences are written in the Arabic script with audio, so the letters settle in through use rather than as a separate chart to memorise first.
Which Arabic does the course teach?
Modern Standard Arabic, the shared written and formal language of the Arab world. Spoken dialects are separate varieties and are not the focus here.
Can I learn Arabic online with only ten minutes a day?
Ten to fifteen focused minutes with well-scheduled reviews beats an hour of passive study once a week. The app tells you what to review each day.
How far does the course go?
Six units, from absolute beginner (Core #1) to C2 (Core #6), about 2,000 sentence cards each.
Is it free?
