Have you seen the Komodo dragon? It is the largest lizard in the world! Komodo dragons live on a few Indonesian islands. They are strong and powerful animals. The dragon's claws are sharp—they use them to climb and hunt. Is the Komodo dragon dangerous? Yes! Its bite is venomous. The dragon hunts deer and other small animals. Does it have a tail? Yes, and the tail helps with balance. Young dragons don’t hunt large prey yet. They must climb trees to stay safe. If you explore these islands, you will see this amazing dragon! She is strong, but her baby isn’t. The baby dragon isn’t far from her. It must rest in the shade. The mother dragon can smell food. Is it prey? The smell is coming from a burrow. The dragons have a strong sense of smell. Will she go to the burrow? If she finds food, she will eat it. If not, she must dig deeper. The sun is too hot for the baby. It mustn’t stay in the sun too long. The mother will protect her baby. She won’t leave it alone. The baby isn’t sick, but it isn’t strong yet. The mother’s claws are sharp. She can dig very fast. Will she find food soon? The baby needs to eat. The mother must hunt. The sun is still hot. The dragons aren’t in danger yet. But they must find food before night.
