Her team told her to accept the results without complaint. "You must understand," they said. "The people have cast their votes." He had won, and she had lost. Would she run again? Only time would tell. For now, she conceded, though she wished she hadn’t spent so much time on the trail. The office would go to another, but at least she had participated in the first place.

The Last Debate
